Executive Assistant to the President


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Assistant will aid the President in achieving organizational goals and advancing the strategic plan.  The individual should be hard- working, motivated, personable, have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. This role is pivotal to everyone who connects with the President or the organization making all feel appreciated, and valued. You are the voice of the President, letting the staff and public know they are important during every interaction.

The Executive Assistant must possess excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, stay focused, and meet deadlines.   There is a need to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, and comfortable working with a diverse range of people and skill levels.   You not only need to anticipate the needs of the president, but have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as needed. You have an ability to receive feedback.  You thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires exceptional discretion. The ideal candidate is a clear, concise and egoless communicator. You will be counted on to create a positive atmosphere and work environment. Be a problem solver and “can do” person when interacting with President and staff, board, donors and general public.

Job Summary,

Create systems and use organizational tools to help President operate efficiently. Innovate to find better ways to coordinate projects and activities.  Support and assist the President in coordinating all of his development and management efforts:


  • Assist the President in cultivating key partnerships including the Board of Directors, President’s Council, major donors, church partners, and ministry partners.

  • Facilitate effective communication from the President and New York City Relief to the staff, the board of directors and the public.

  • Create systems to efficiently follow up with all donor appointments, speaking engagements etc.

  • Document all donor contacts and correspondence on Donor Perfect database.

  • Assist the President with coordination of special events.

  • Prep and Attend speaking engagements.

  • Coordinate and execute annual board retreat.

  • Facilitate quarterly Board of Directors meetings.

  • Coordinate and facilitate President’s interaction with NYCR Executive Team.

  • Manage calendar and scheduling of the President for all meetings, events, speaking engagements, etc.

  • Manage Board of Directors calendar.

  • Assist President on all special projects.

  • Manage President’s emails and phone calls.

  • Create monthly email update from President to board, president’s council, personal email list and NYCR email list.

  • Plan annual Staff Retreat.

Skills and Experience,

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.   Highly competent with technology (G-suite cloud based system, video recording & editing preferred), valid driver’s license.


All staff participates in regular Tuesday morning meetings for a time of worship, prayer, discipleship, and organizational updates. These are key times of community building, deepening relationships, and accountability that create a culture of interdependence. Each staff member is expected to periodically lead times of prayer or Bible study.

Work schedule and Benefits,

Generous paid vacation package.  Health Insurance provided. Paid sick time and personal days. Paid maternity and paternity Leave. Schedule is Monday to Friday; however also needs to be flexible to mirror the CEO’s schedule when necessary.

New York City Relief is a Christian ministry that has been helping the homeless in the NYC metro area for over 29 years. NYCR consists of two outreach models; The Relief Bus and The Relief Co-op.  We are customized, mobile resource centers for people struggling with homelessness. We serve delicious soup and fresh Portuguese rolls to draw people in and make friends. Once staff and volunteers build trust, we try to connect our guests to shelter, job training/employment, medical help, drug/alcohol rehabilitation and a relationship with Jesus Christ.
