Digital Fundraiser


New York City Relief is a growing Christian non-profit organization that operates a mobile outreach to the homeless. The organization has a budget of 3.5 million dollars and mobilizes over 7,000 volunteers a year to connect the homeless to resources that lead to life transformation.

Summary of Principal Responsibilities,

The Digital Fundraising Specialist’s primary responsibility is to manage digital fundraising strategies that retain NYCR’s current donors and reach new potential donors. This position is the primary project manager and implementer for digital initiatives related to fundraising including e-appeals, online advertising, and online peer to peer campaigns. The manager will coordinate with colleagues to implement digital fundraising campaigns that tie into NYCR’s longer-term strategies, rapid responses, and social media presence.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities,

The key responsibilities of the Digital Fundraising Manager include the following:

  • Project manage and implement online campaigns for annual fundraising, donor cultivation, and new donor acquisition, including online ads, email campaigns, donation forms, and donor stewardship and cultivation content. Manage the creative process for online campaigns including the content collection process, fact-checking, and routing art and copy through approval. Ensure deadlines are met and quality control standards are implemented consistently.

  • Coordinate online annual giving campaigns and content with NYCR’s overall digital strategies. Coordinate with others in Communications to incorporate fundraising tactics into NYCR’s rapid response to breaking news events.

  • Develop strategies, and support for peer to peer efforts to increase donor engagement, and enhance revenue.

  • Coordinate with development, finance & communications on Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) and work on related projects that involve the data hygiene, security, and procedures that govern NYCR’s use of CRMs.

  • Manage work of digital donor marketing vendors.

  • Monitor, track, and report on online fundraising and email results for each campaign and for overall progress toward annual goals.

  • Utilize external resources related to annual giving and donor services to understand best practices and stay current with innovative techniques.

  • Consult frequently with fundraising colleagues, participate in meetings and conference calls

  • Support the Communications Department with duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.


  • Three years’ experience working with digital marketing in a nonprofit environment.

  • Three years’ experience as a project manager.

Other Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in using CRM systems (Donor Perfect and Salesforce preferred),website management (Squarespace) content management systems (Drupal preferred), email systems, social media platforms, and mobile platforms. HTML and Adobe Photoshop experience beneficial.

  • Have experience with donor marketing in the nonprofit sector.

  • Experience in an activist or advocacy nonprofit is preferred.

  • Have excellent writing, design, proofing, and editing skills, including ability to provide effective feedback to graphic designers on user interface, layout, and design.

  • Be able to excel in a highly collaborative, team-based environment with both internal and external partners. Ability to gain cooperation from and to motivate individuals in order to accomplish project goals.

  • Patience and maturity in dealing with donors, staff & their requests.

  • Have excellent listening skills with proven experience building and sustaining quality relationships. An ability to engage with a variety of constituencies with varying interests and perspectives is important.

  • Be an energetic, self-starting strategic thinker with strong organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.


All staff participates in regular Tuesday morning meetings for a time of worship, prayer, discipleship, and organizational updates. These are key times of community building, deepening relationships, and accountability that create a culture of interdependence. Each staff member is expected to periodically lead times of prayer or Bible study.

NYCR consists of two outreach models; The Relief Bus and The Relief Co-op.  We are customized, mobile resource centers for people struggling with homelessness.
