Job Summary,

The DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR will be responsible for managing and optimizing Development Department processes to increase fundraising revenue.  The DOS will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and logistics of the department; managing all administrative and functional aspects including regular fundraising report preparation, managing metrics/leading indicators of progress, and driving the department to ensure operational compliance.  The DOS will be the direct supervisor of staff overseeing the organization’s donor processing, gift entries, prospect research, grant writing, data management. This position reports directly to the Director of Development, Bobby Thompson.

  • Create and manage weekly fundraising status reports, over/under reports.

  • Monitor fundraising projections for accuracy.

  • Co-create a pledge process and tracking system.

  • Oversee systems for prospecting, research, and pipeline development.

  • Manage monthly and annual revenue projections with Controller.

  • Oversee gift acknowledgement process.

  • Supervise & audit the accuracy of data, contact data, donor detail information.

  • Routinely audits data and records, duplicate records, coding & classifications.

  • Works closely with Director of Development to create and implement development operation procedures, policies, strategies.

  • Coordinate  all operational aspects of a 4-person team, plus freelance events planner and contract Grant Writer.

  • Execute all administrative tasks for the entire department; from time sheets, to new hire on-boarding, to creation of training plans for new hires, vacation time approval, update time off tracker, monitor Work-at-Home requests.

  • Maintain calendars/timelines for all development materials including direct mail appeals, campaign-specific, and project-specific solicitation materials so that all department members are hitting their BY WHEN’s.

  • Identify and champion various tech solutions that support fundraising goals.

  • Audit and upgrade, as needed, incoming gifts processing & stewardship systems.

  • Budget management, expense reports, expense coding.

  • Advises Donor Manager & Bookkeeper on weekly reconciliation of Donor Perfect & Quickbooks so that donations & deposits tie out on a monthly basis.

  • Assigns work and constantly evaluates workload balance of department on ongoing basis.


All staff participate in regular Tuesday morning meetings for times of worship, prayer, discipleship and business meetings. These are key times of community building, deepening of relationship and accountability that create a culture of interdependence. Each staff member is expected to periodically lead times of prayer or Bible study. All staff also participate periodically in The Relief Bus outreach and minister to the poor and homeless through prayer and ministry of the Word of God with individuals.

Work Schedule and Benefits,

Generous paid vacation package.  Health Insurance provided. Paid sick time and personal days. Paid maternity and paternity leave. Schedule is onsite MON to FRI, 9AM to 5PM.  This position does not have a WAH option.

New York City Relief is a Christian ministry that has been helping the homeless in the NYC metro area for over 29 years. NYCR consists of two outreach models; The Relief Bus and The Relief Co-op.  We are customized, mobile resource centers for people struggling with homelessness. We serve delicious soup and fresh Portuguese rolls to draw people in and make friends. Once staff and volunteers build trust, we try to connect our guests to shelter, job training/employment, medical help, drug/alcohol rehabilitation and a relationship with Jesus Christ.
